Vietnam Veterans of America 2018 Scholarship Awards

This memorandum shall serve as the standards for applicants to apply for a $1,000 scholarship for full-time students or one of two recipients of a $250 scholarship for part-time students.

The rules are as follows:

An applicant must be a member of the VVA Central New York Chapter 103 in good standing for a period of not less than one year prior to application or the child or the grandchild of said member. (Good standing is defined as a member whose dues are current and meets the standards set by the VVA National Organization for membership.) Submission of a DD-214 is required prior to receiving a scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship is designed to assist a student who is registered or accepted to an accredited university, college or technical school as a full- time matriculated student. The student must be furnish proof of registration or acceptance status.

The two $250 scholarships are designed for students attending part-time at any accredited university, college or technical school. The course load must be at least one subject per semester, to include a summer semester. The student must furnish proof of registration or acceptance status.

The applicants for either scholarship must complete a standard application form furnished by Chapter 103 and submit it along with the proofs previously mentioned. The application must be given or mailed to any member of the Executive Board or Board of Directors or mailed to our Chapter postal address prior to the March membership meeting to allow adequate time for application review and processing.

The Chapter will assign a number to each application and divide into full- or part-time student groups. That assigned number shall serve as the number to be placed in the lottery drawings for the three scholarships during the April membership meeting. The scholarship lottery results will be posted on this web page and the winners notified.

In the event there are no applications, the scholarships will be withdrawn for the year. It is the right of Chapter 103 to grant more scholarships in the event that becomes desirable or necessary, or to withdraw scholarships. The monetary amounts of full- and part-time active scholarships will, however, remain unchanged. No recipient can apply for additional VVA 103 scholarships.

A recipient may apply directly for a grant from Chapter 103 or the Vietnam Veterans of Central New York Foundation.
